Shawn graduated from UMass Boston with a BS in Exercise Science in 2011. During that time, he had the opportunity to intern at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning, where he was able to learn a great deal in regards to strength and conditioning, as well as corrective exercise.
After graduation, Shawn attended the MGH Institute of Health Professions, where he graduated in 2014 with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Most of my treatments involve some type of manual therapy and corrective exercise. For corrective exercise, I start with basic movement patterns that focus on the patient’s impairments (ie. mobility, stability, or both). As the patient progresses I try to progress them to more gross movement patterns (ie. jumping, crawling, or other progressions) before we move to more sport specific movements.
I am also able to access the weightroom in the YMCA, so I can work more specifically with individual patients in regards to Olympic Lifting or Powerlifting, if they have a goal to return to these exercises.
How I Stay Moving:
Gym (Olympic Lifting, Powerlifting, Plyometric, Speed and Agility Training) 4x/week
Competitive Adult Hockey 1-2x/week
Avid striped bass fisherman in the summer !
